100 wild miles: Maine's 100 Mile Wilderness is the most remote, rugged section of the Appalachian Trail

Article Abstract:

Maine enjoys the wildest and most pristine section of the 2,135-mile-long Appalachian Trail. Boreal forest animals, such as moose, mink, beaver, black bear and others can be seen. The Wilderness is comprised of 10 to 15 million acres of mountains, forests and huge ponds.
