A sailor realizes his luck when he and his friend had an overnight sail near Cedar Key aboard Mirage 5.5, a tiny centerboard sloop, despite strong winds that caused near-freezing temperatures. The boat sank at a dock, years later after their sail.

A sailor and a companion survived a strong wind in Redfish Island, a low, crescent-shaped tumulus along a mile of the Houston ship channel. After the frightening experience, they both realized the importance of raising the centerboard back.
