Body prevention: "This disease isn't rare enough for me"

Article Abstract:

Meningococcal meningitis, a rare blood disease, mostly affects children under 2 years of age, affecting kidney and lungs and sometimes causing diminished intellect, or amputation, or death, if the child is not vaccinated in time. A $70 Menomune vaccine which offers protection against four or five strains of bacteria that cause meningococcal meningitis among children is available.

Exercise-induced asthma is hard to distinguish from normal hard breathing after a workout. Such asthma often goes untreated and can become a life-threatening condition later in life. Techniques for recognizing and treating exercise-induced asthma are detailed.
