Several recent studies seem to indicate that magnets can be useful in managing pain. Athletes have used them for years, and mail-order health companies have been selling them for some time. Despite apparent evidence of their effectiveness, for every study that shows benefits, another study shows none.

Pregnant women whose babies are in a breech position close to their delivery date may benefit from relaxation therapies that cause the baby to change position. The use of hypnosis in one study saw an 81% success rate versus 48% of women not trained in hypnosis.
