"A rag, a bone, a hank of hair...." (history of decoys)(includes bibliography and related article on materials used to make decoys)
Article Abstract:
Hunters may have used decoys as much as 12,000 years ago. Evidence of antlered skins worn by Cro-Magnon men in France 14,000 years ago indicates that the skins may have been decoys. Spearfishers used decoys before lures with hooks were developed.
