Cheaters never win

Article Abstract:

Of the more than 100,000 runners who race in US marathons, a few are cheaters sneaking in at the finish and unless detected, stealing the purse of the rightful winners. Several cheaters who were caught are named in the hopes that the shame factor will deter other would-be cheaters.

Trials time

Article Abstract:

US Olympic marathon trials are too close to the Games and have caused athletes' downfalls in the past. Suggestions for improvement are a six-month period between trials and Games, combining Olympic and World Championship trials, and seeding proven champions into the Games.

Article Abstract:

The Boston Marathon is the oldest and greatest marathon in the US, and runners never forget participating in it, especially for the first time. One runner whose first marathon was the Boston sort of wishes he never ran in another because the experience was so perfect.
