Clear-cutting the Canal?

Article Abstract:

The AUTHORIDAD del Canal de Panama (ACP) is trying to enlarge the canal and its capacity, to build a set of locks for larger ships, which will endanger and affect the boat clubs in the vicinity of the canal. ACP has declared that anyone in its operating area are intruders who do not have to be compensated for being displaced and this has led to hard times for owners of the boat clubs and also for the cruisers.

The learning activities of sailing cadets aboard The US Coast Guard square-rigger training ship are described. The cadets work as a team to handle the 295 foot ship with 22,227 square feet of sail.
