Combined antioxidant treatment effects on blood oxidative stress after eccentric exercise

Article Abstract:

A study was designed to ascertain the effects of a combination antioxidant therapy on plasma protein carbonyls (PC), malondialdehyde (MDA) and whole blood total (TSH), oxidized (GSSG) and reduced (GSH) glutathione in nonresistance-trained females after eccentric resistance exercise. The result showed that eccentric resistance exercise could increase blood biomarkers of oxidative stress in non-resistance trained females.

B-endorphin infusion during exercise in rats: blood metabolic effects

Article Abstract:

This article examines the effects of infusing rats with b-endorphin during a ninety-minute treadmill exercise test. Results indicate that b-endorphin infusion reduced exercise-related declines in glucose levels by increasing glucagon levels but did not affect concentrations of circulating FFA's or catecholamines.

Bone mass increases in less than four weeks of voluntary exercising in growing rats

Article Abstract:

This article examines the effects of a voluntary exercise program on bone growth and tissue adaption in growing rats. Results indicate that voluntary exercise significantly elevated bone metabolism and led to increased tibial bone mass, bone volume, and mineral content in under four weeks.
