An expert horse rider shares some of his show-prep principles, which are honed over the last several decades. It is necessary to get the horses worked at least as hard at home as they do at a show, the trip from home to the show should be as comfortable as possible for the horse and it should be made sure that the horse is mentally and physically ready to show before leaving home.

A top roper presents several strategic moves to establish 'quiet anticipation' in a roping horse waiting in the box for the steer to be released, and to teach him to leave the box only on the command of the rider. The strategy would result in a faster exit from the box, resulting in a quicker throw, and faster time.
