Effect of oral glutamine supplementation on human neutrophil lipopolysaccharide-stimulated degranulation following prolonged exercise

Article Abstract:

Prolonged, high-intensity exercise can temporarily suppress human immune function. This study focuses on how the supplementation of glutamine, an amino acid used as fuel in the body, plays a minimal role in the functioning of neutrophils, a type of white blood cell that plays an active role in nonspecific host defense.

Effect of prolonged exercise and carbohydrate on total neutrophil elastase content

Article Abstract:

Research reveals that the total elastase content of neutrophils is not affected by exercise or carbohydrate-beverage intake. Data support that reduction in lipopolysacchardie-stimulated neutrophil elastase release following prolonged intense exercise cannot be attributed to changes in neutrophil elastase content.

Pre-exercise carbohydrate status and immune responses to prolonged cycling: II. effect on plasma cytokine concentration

Article Abstract:

This article discusses the relationship between sports drink consumption, strenuous exercise, and plasma cytokines. An analysis of immune response, energy metabolism, and plasma interleukin is presented.
