Effects of a fixed dietary intake on changes in red blood cell delta-aminolevulinate dehydratase activity and hemolysis

Article Abstract:

The prevalence of iron-deficiency anemia in female Japanese rhythmic gymnasts is examined to assess the effect of a fixed dietary intake on biomarkers of red blood cell (RBC) biosynthesis and degradation. It shows that a fixed dietary intervention appears to enhance RBC turnover by increasing the capacity for erythrocyte biosynthesis and degradation although the prevalence of iron-deficiency anemia remains unchanged.

Increased myostatin synthesis in rat gastrocnemius muscles under high-protein diet

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to test whether a high protein diet affects myostatin synthesis in a rat gastrocnemius muscle. High myostatin mRNA and protein contents were observed under a high-protein diet and that the high protein diet would promote muscle hypertrophy if myostatin mRNA expression were repressed by other dietary components.
