Article Abstract:

Pleasure-boaters with time on their hands traverse the 126-mile system of lakes and rivers between Kingston, ON, and Ottawa that makes up the Rideau Canal. The canal was built in 1826 in anticipation of a war with the US that never materialized. A trip through the 47 locks is described.
