Global and local influences on English rugby league

Article Abstract:

Rupert Murdoch owned News Corporation's strategy for popularizing Rugby League globally and locally in order to make a profit out of its broadcasting rights, may have failed due to the influence of local cultural factors and the lack of local resources in areas where it is a new sport. Rugby League's plan for global expansion now consists of a global, media-led initiative that will encourage the local bases to adopt this sport.
