Gun control: do you really need guns onboard?

Article Abstract:

A former combat medic in Vietnam swore off the use of guns and the violence they represent. As he took up boating, he realized the importance of keeping guns onboard for protection. However, he warns foreign-bound boats against carrying a weapon onboard without complete knowledge of the country's laws.

Killer ships: you see them ... but do they see you?

Article Abstract:

Recreational boaters should be aware of the dangers involved in sharing water ways with ships. Ships have a blind spot that stretches ahead of them, they often cannot alter course safely and they take more than a mile to stop. VHF Channel 13 should be used to communicate with an approaching ship.
