Heave-ho

Article Abstract:

Inflammatory Airway Disease (IAD), or heaves, is caused by chronic exposure to environmental irritants like dust, molds, pollens, bacterial endotoxins and mite feces, and the mucus in a heave-y horse's airways is more visco-elastic than usual, eventually extending the damage from the airways into the lungs. Treatment both for the horse's day-to-day comfort and performances, as also for acute heaves attacks are presented.
