Article Abstract:

The experiences on board the 'Morgan's Cloud' on a cruise in the Arctic, near the islands of Svalbard, just 600 miles south of the North Pole and characterized by miles of ice and hazardous weather as well as great beauty, are described. The islands of Svalbard, an international territory, administered by Norway have great wildlife, a research center on global warming and many historical sites.

Article Abstract:

Overnight coastal sailing can be extremely tiring. Indeed, such passages can create more potential for making dangerous mistakes than longer ocean crossings. There is usually more traffic along the shore, and winds can change frequently.
