Is athlete burnout more than just stress? A sport commitment perspective

Article Abstract:

Sport attraction and sport entrapment influence the ways in which athletes cope with burnout. Attraction, or the desire to be involved, reduces athlete burnout. Entrapment, or the perception of required participation, increases athlete burnout. These findings suggest that using a commitment perspective can be a viable means of identifying and analyzing athlete burnout, and suggesting new treatments.
