Kawasaki's belt drive: shiftless ... but hardly lazy

Article Abstract:

The Kawasaki Prairie 400 comes with a constantly variable transmission (CVT) system that uses a Kevlar-reinforced drive belt. The CVT eliminates the need for shifting, but it also keeps the vehicle from braking as well as it could on long descents. The Prairie 400 costs $6,199.
