Low-intensity exercise training improves survival in Dahl salt hypertension

Article Abstract:

A study examines whether exercise training could increase survival in a rodent model of Dahl salt-sensitive hypertension. Results suggest that exercise training is an important intervention for salt-sensitive hypertension and that the enhanced survival observed with exercise training appears to be independent of training-induced systolic blood pressure (SBP) lowering effects.

Regulation of GLUT4 gene expression during exercise

Article Abstract:

Understanding systems that control expression of GLUT4, the chief glucose transporter in skeletal muscle, is vital for treatment of diabetes. The transcription of GLUT4 gene is briefly activated after an extreme bout of exercise and GLUT4 protein can be increased up to two to three times after a few days of repeated exercise.
