Obesity exacerbates oxidative stress levels after acute exercise

Article Abstract:

Oxidative stress levels and antioxidant capacity in nonobese and obese patients were compared after acute resistance (RX) and aerobic exercise (AX). Blood samples from 28 obese and non obese participants were collected pre and immediately post-RX and AX and It was found that lipid peroxidation which is elevated in both RX and AX is exacerbated in those who were obese.

Oxidative stress response to aerobic exercise: Comparison of antioxidant supplements

Article Abstract:

An investigation was conducted to compare the effects of two antioxidant formulas on biomarkers of oxidative stress before and after aerobic exercise. Results showed that antioxidant supplementation with Vitamin C + E or a mixed fruit and vegetable juice concentrate can attentuate the rise in protein oxidation observed after an acute 30-min run at 80% V[O.sub.2max].

Cytokine and oxidative responses to maximal cycling exercise in sedentary subjects

Article Abstract:

A study was done of 15 sedentary males doing incremental cycling till exhaustion In order to determine normal exercise-induced changes in oxidative responses and plasma cytokine was conducted. The results found that the time course and magnitude of oxidative stress and cytokine response occurred concomitantly.
