Hockey teams of the past have had players who specialize in fighting, but the so-called 'enforcers' on modern hockey teams are not only tough, they also are good players. Discussed players include Tony Twist, Claude Lemieux, Dale Hunter, Tie Domi, and Ulf Samuelsson.

Catcher Darren Daulton of the Philadelphia Phillies hit 27 home runs in 1992 and his 109 runs batted in led the league. Before that, Daulton had suffered from injuries and a number of poor batting years that had threatened his career.
