David Stare, an avid Cape Cod sailor and wine fanatic, founded Dry Creek Vineyard, located in northern Sonoma County, California, in the 1960s. The winery upholds Stare's tradition of helping young people chasing marine dreams, and is the title sponsor of the annual Dry Creek Vineyard Pro Am Regatta held every autumn at the Bitter End Yacht Club in Virgin Gorda, British Virgin Islands, and supports US Sailing, the governing body of the sport, at various America's Cup syndicates.
