Ritual kill: the stag is dead ... long live the stag

Article Abstract:

Stag hunting has long been a tradition accompanied with specific rites and rules. It was originally a king's sport, and hounds were used to track the stag through forests. A modern-day stag hunt in France is described, in which only two men can kill a stag that is chased through a forest.
