Running on burro-ed time

Article Abstract:

This 22-mile Rocky Mountain race, is held each August. Tom Sobal and his burro, Maynard, have won each year since 1989. A race that requires a human and a notoriously stubborn animal to work together to win makes for apsychological as well as a physical race.

New kids on the road

Article Abstract:

The Students Run L.A. program encourages Los Angeles continuation-school students to compete in the Los Angeles Marathon. In 1991, 526 of the 551 students who took part in the program were able to finish the race.

The New York City Marathon is very much an international event, and in 1992, runners from Italy, France, Canada and Bermuda enjoyed New York by attending parties, sightseeing and sampling American food.
