New York, NY, has been rated as dangerous and unhealthy for cyclists. The late Bob Rodale has written a blueprint which advocates making New York City bike-friendly. Bicycling can enhance the environment as well as provide healthier attitudes for city workers.

The 1992 Harris Poll shows that Americans would use their bicycles for transportation more often if conditions were improved. State governments should focus on a transportation bill that would provide for pedestrian and bicycle coordinators.
