Article Abstract:

French off shore sailor and skipper of 'Geronimo', Oliver de Kersauson who once held the Jules Verne Trophy for the fastest nonstop circumnavigation, attempts to win it back. His approach to offshore sailing is similar to that of seafarers of old, and he believes he is a part of collective history since he is one of the few to have sailed around the world nonstop on a multihull.

Slippery 70s

Article Abstract:

The Volvo Ocean 70, designed for the Volvo Ocean Race and the first of the new 70-footers, the Juan Kouyoumdjian-designed by ABN AMRO, was launched in January 2005. Despite being longer, the 27,500-pound VO 70 is a ton lighter than the 60, the VO 70 carries a 1,885-square-foot mainsail and a 1,291-square-foot jib-an extra 1,050 square feet of sail area compared to the VO 60.

Fowler finally victorious at Interclub Nationals

Article Abstract:

Sailor Neal Fowler of Barrington, Rhode Island has finally won the 1997 Interclub National Championship boat race in Hyannis, Massachusetts after being denied the victory for the last 15 years. He shares the victory with fellow yachtsman and crew Mike Collins.
