Shoulder-rotator strength of high school swimmers over the course of a competitive season

Article Abstract:

The isometric shoulder internal - (IR) and external rotator (ER) strength in high school swimmers over a 12-week competitive season is examined. Findings reveal an increase in IR strength without equal gains in ER strength and further contributions of shoulder pathologies in competitive swimmers.

Sex differences in eccentric hip-abductor strength and knee-joint kinematics when landing from a jump

Article Abstract:

A study compares eccentric hip-abductor strength and the kinematics of landing in men and women when performing a hopping task. No significant sex differences were detected, but women demonstrated a significant relationship between eccentric hip strength and kinematics of the knee.

Alteration in upper extremity motion after scapular-muscle fatigue

Article Abstract:

A study to determine the effects of scapular fatigue on shoulder and elbow kinematics and accuracy was conducted. The results revealed that the scapular-muscle fatigue results in compensatory motions at the elbow that night affect performance and contribute to elbow pathologies.
