Swinging at the golf ball rather than through it causes a swing that is too fast. Early wrist action should not be exaggerated, and there should be a pause at the top of the backswing.

The eyes have it
Article Abstract:
A slice is more likely if a golfer's eyes point to the left as the ball is addressed. Pointing the eyes to the right of the target will correct the problem.
