This west Texas reservoir on the Colorado and Concho Rivers offers visitors smallmouth and largemouth bass, channel catfish, crappies and walleyes. Rocky shorelines and timber and brush cover make this an ideal location, but concessions and services are still minimal.

Two chain saw lumber mills, the Alaskan MK II Portable Lumber Mill ($129-$149) and the Jonesred 600+ ($2,695), can be used to help construct a cabin from cut trees. Both are effective, but the higher-priced Jonesred 600+ is designed for faster, heavy-duty work.
