The 24-h urinary cortisol/cortisone ratio for monitoring training in elite swimmers

Article Abstract:

The effect of training variations on 24-h urinary cortisol/cortisone(C/Cn) ratio is investigated to determine whether it will be a good marker of training stress and performance in trained swimmers. The results show the C/Cn ratio to be statistically different for three periods and moderately related to both training and performance whereas Cn levels are related to only training.

Overnight urinary cortisol and cortisone add new insights into adaptation to training

Article Abstract:

A study is conducted to examine the effects of training on the hypothalamo-pituitary adrenal (HPA) axis using two new noninvasive tools. It is conducted that the increased intracellular inactivation of cortisol during the night in endurance-trained men uncovers subtle changes in HPA function during training.

Drafting distance in swimming

Article Abstract:

Research shows that in swimming, a distance of 0-50 centimeter back from the toes of the lead swimmer is advantageous, while a distance of 50-100 centimeter from the hands of the lead swimmer is preferred in lateral drafting.
