NBC spent $300 million in production of the 1992 Summer Olympic Games telecast, and ended losing as much as $150 million. The biggest loser was the three-channel, pay-per-view, TripleCast. Networks in other countries provided comparable coverage for $20-$50 million.

Barcelona, Spain, will host the 1992 summer Olympics, which promises to be one of the greatest athletic spectacles ever seen. For a change, politics should have little effect on the games, and the emphasis on the 'amateur' status of the athletes has faded.
