Article Abstract:
Hibernating animals, such as groundhogs and bears, eat as much as possible before going to sleep. The metabolism slows and the liver begins converting fat to glucose. Body temperature drops and breathing slows. Snakes and bats are also discussed.

Several American Indian tribes are offering tours of some of their sacred sites. Reservations are technically separate nations and have their own laws and histories. Many of these areas are threatened by vandalism, development, and mining.
