The deceiver's art
Article Abstract:
The popularity of trompe l'oeil or illusionism art has increased over the decades. Hellenistic artists, Apelles and Zeuxis, started the widespread practice of this type of art during the first century and were followed by the Romans. During the Renaissance period, trompe l'oeil art was expressed using the technique of pictorial perspective wherein three-dimensional (3D) images are done on two-dimensional planes. In the 20th century, methods of illusions have become more sophisticated through the use of virtual reality, 3D film, morphing and reality-based television.

The Pope and the ontogeny of persons
Article Abstract:
Pope John Paul II, in his new book 'Crossing the Threshold of Hope,' writes about human reproduction but fails to acknowledge the critical role of modern genetics and embryology in such biological issues. In his attempt to link ethical thinking and biological issues, especially the origin of individuals, the Pope overlooks the genetic interpretation, focussing instead on the concept of human life.
