Article Abstract:

The trials for aspiring US Olympic track athletes took place in New Orleans in spite of the city's reputation for heat and humidity. Stories from the trials are always full of pathos as athletes fighting from the heart, fail to make the teams. Some of the surprising results from the trials are recounted.
