Deer tend to be creatures of habit, but hunting season usually disrupts the familiar pattern of their activities. Experienced deer, in particular, become aware of the presence of hunters and tend to stay hidden, especially in the early morning and late afternoon hours.

Studying the habits of deer will help the hunter locate the animal. Whitetail deer prefer the cover of the brush, but they do have crosswalks, where they come out in the open. The hunter has to know where these crosswalks are. Mule deer habits are also examined.
