Validity and reliability of activity measures in African-American girls for GEMS

Article Abstract:

Results reveal that the MTI/CSA accelerometer is suitable for measuring overall activity level of African-american girls enrolled in the Girls health Enrichment Multi-site Studies (GEMS). However, pedometer is unsuitable for activity measurements. Validity correlations are statistically significant when the measurements are done for more than one day.

A longitudinal study of fitness and activity in girls predisposed to obesity

Article Abstract:

A study is carried out to determine whether physical activity and fitness change in girls, with or without a predisposition to obesity between the age group of 8-10 years. The results highlight that the day spent active on weekday and weekend was similar but the girls with obese parents were found to be less fit.

Pregnancy-related changes in physical activity, fitness, and strength

Article Abstract:

Pregnancy-related changes are examined in physical activity, fitness and strength in women of varying body mass indices (BMI). The examination concluded that relative to prepregnancy performance, fitness and strength declined in the early postpartum period but improved by 27 week postpartum.
