Some of the strategies adopted by the cruiser while confronting the two hurricanes namely, Ignacio and Marty in the sea of Cortez along the coast of California and Pacific side of the Baja California are discussed. These include safe refuging, anchoring security, marina security and many others.

A sailor recalls his experience during a maiden voyage with his father on a summer evening on Big Bay de Noc, in Northern Lake Michigan. He suggest that since many new boats have teething problems its always helpful to have at least one experienced person aboard for a maiden voyage.
