Indian Motorcycle Company Inc. and Harley-Davidson Inc. produced specially designed motorcycles during the 1940s to support the country's war effort. Although these machines were later deemed impractical for fighting purposes, their popularity among servicemen eventually led to the birth of motorcycle racing.

The Crocker V-Twin

Article Abstract:

Albert G. Crocker built some 64 Crocker V-Twin motorcycles in 1936. It was the fastest motorcycle of its time and 30 Crockers still exist in 1992.
