When you're in the path of a hurricane
Article Abstract:
Hurricanes endanger sailors and their vessels. The best way to avoid hurricanes is by the use of vector diagrams. With the diagram, sailors can determine the allowable closest point of approach (CPA) to a hurricane. A sample problem on CPA is provided as well as its solution.

Article Abstract:
The prediction of the time of sunset and sunrise aids sailors in navigation. The time facilitates the plotting of sailors' position at sea. The US Coast Guard offers study modules for the calculation of sunrise and sunset using the times in the Nautical Almanac.
