The high specific strength, longevity, corrosion resistance and other features of composite materials have been recognized by the shipbuilding industry. Martin Williams, chief naval architect for ADL Limited (Australia), has predicted that composites will continue to expand within shipbuilding, into roles that haven't been anticipated.
