Container stack toppled
Article Abstract:
A new container vessel was anchored while waiting for its berth to become vacant. The vessel rolled very violently while on the anchorage due to beam sea and swell and stiffness of the vessel. This event can be prevented by proper weight distribution, avoiding three-high container stacks, and more advanced container securing systems.
