Controlling the ballast water stowaways

Article Abstract:

The devastating effect of the invasive species in ballast water, due to the expanded trade and traffic volumes in the last few decades, is discussed. The International Maritime Organization is developing mandatory regulations to address this serious issue and it is set to adopt a new International Convention for the Control and Management of Ships Ballast Water and Sediments.

Testing times for bunkers

Article Abstract:

Fuel testing agency Lintec Testing Services has introduced new Marpol Annex VI fuel sampling kit. The kit is designed to check the pollution causing level in fuels of bunker ships and it complies with the Intenational Maritime Organization (IMO)'s bunker ship pollution norms.

U.S. is the only country that has implemented the ISPS Code, that has come into force from the first of July. The U.S. Authorities have detained 30 vessels and denied entry to 19 vessels.
