Deaths of teenagers as motor-vehicle passengers
Article Abstract:
The result of an investigation of teenage death in motor-vehicle accidents shows the rate of teenage passenger death is almost as high as teenage driver death and the rate of teenage passenger death is higher relative to old passenger death. Night accident cases are more frequent and accidents mostly occurs in smaller and older cars. Safety measures like night driving curfews and restriction on teenage driving should be considered as ways to reduce the teenage death rates.

Development and evaluation of programs to increase proper child restraint use
Article Abstract:
Unrestrained or improperly restrained children and infants in vehicles are susceptible to crash injuries and even airbag inflation injuries. In Durham, North Carolina, a child restraint programme was introduced, which included letters to parents urging proper use of restraint, enforcement checkpoints, and clinics at elementary schools. This resulted in increased restraint use and demonstrated the importance of strong and well-publicized enforcement.

Development and evaluation of programs to increase proper child restraint use
Article Abstract:
Surveys show that the combined use of educational programmes and legal enforcement encourages the proper use of child restraints in automobiles. Evidence suggests that a pilot program in Durham, North Caroline, was particularly effective at elementary schools due to law enforcement. Further work is required to persuade parents to seat their children in the back seat rather than the front.
