Metric man leads the way
Article Abstract:
Cutbacks on US military spending has adversely affected the US shipbuilding industry. Several industry officials expressed concern over the industry's inability to compete in the internationalcommercial building market. The inability of the US shipbuilding industry to compete internationally can be traced to its use of non-metric measuring systems. Consequently, the National Shipbuilding Research Program, in conjunction with Peterson Builders Inc, has begun a campaign to entice shipbuilders to shift to the metric system.
