Shuttle tanker fits VOC plant
Article Abstract:
The 16-year old shuttle tanker Navion Viking will be one of the first ships to be outfitted with a volatile organic compound (VOC) recovery and dual-fuel system. The system was designed to recover 70% of the oil vapor generated during tanker loading and from offshore uptake points. The tanker is operated on an 80:20 basis by Statoil and the Rasmussen Group. The installation is expected to drastically reduce outpourings of VOC and emissions of nitrogen oxide and sulphur dioxide.
