Pilotage incidents down, but claims up

There were 30 pilotage incidents in 2006, lower than the eight-year average of 44, but insurance claims in 2006 were 40% higher than the average of $896,000. Causes of these incidents include poor master/pilot exchange, passage planning, and bridge resource management.
