The German delegation is to present a paper at the International Maritime Organization's Maritime Safety Committee meeting in October 2007 regarding fire concerns in cargo decks in container ships. Details on proposals and methods on how to deal with and prevent box ship fires are presented.

Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) regulations for life raft manufacturers regarding life raft servicing and equipment to be stored within the raft are discussed. Guidelines to extend life raft products' expiry dates to six months are presented.
