Research meets reality at CIMAC
Article Abstract:
The CIMAC Users Group has established a database of user experience relating to two-stroke engines. According to the group, the three principal areas of concern for CIMAC members are fuel systems, entablature and hot components. The group also reports that its members have continued tracking liner scuffing problems on low-speed engines, particularly those in larger bore units such as container ships. The group reveals that the most dominant scuffing-linked problems are cylinder condition, cracked cylinder liners and cracked piston crowns.
