Service proves electric propulsion design
Article Abstract:
Kvaener Masa-Yards has developed a new azimuthing electric propulsion drive designed to give optimal thrust and maneuverability. The new propulsion system, Azipod, consists of a propulsion motor, a power and information transmission, a cooling system, a propulsion shaftline and a steering system. One of Azipod's unique features is that it can be serviced without needing to be drydocked.
