Singapore's ship repair and conversion market continues to be a world leader with its delivery of three large FPSO conversions. Jurong Shipyard delivered Petrobras 37 and Buffalo Venture at the end of 1999, while Keppel Shipyard completed the conversion of Espadarte in Feb, 2000.

Boost for Blohm + Voss

Blohm + Voss Repair of Hamburg, Germany, has secured several large contracts, including a $25 million contract for the repair of the fire-damaged Greek ferry Superfast III. In total, the company worked on 354 ships to Sep 30, 1999, achieving a turnover of $100 million.

All-reefer container vessels enter service

Howaldtswerke-Deutsche Werft AG has delivered two open top all-reefer container ships to Dole Fresh Fruit International Ltd. These are the largest cold-storage ships in the world, with refrigerated space equivalent to around 2 million cu ft.
